FreeSpan Systems is a new concept in trail bridge design that solves the long-span, low-impact dilemma. The unique patented suspension system is cost effective and easy to install.
FreeSpan Systems uses epoxy coated or galvanized steel tendons in a unique configuration of horizontal and catenary strands to provide efficient support for spans up to 400 feet.
FreeSpan Systems Trail Bridge located on the Moose Run Golf Course in Anchorage, Alaska.

"On the Moose Run Golf Course Project, crossing Ship Creek and the adjacent wetlands would not have been economically possible with conventional bridge designs. The FreeSpan Bridge allowed us to span the restricted areas with virtually no impact." --Ben Northey, Alaska Manager, Goodfellow Bros., Inc.
Environmental restrictions have increased the problem of bridging waterways and wetlands using conventional designs that require large abutments and pier structures for relatively short spans. The growing popularity of outdoor recreation has increased pressure on designers for innovative solutions to span rivers and obstacles in both urban and remote areas without the impact of traditional bridges.
The Benefits of FreeSpan Systems:
Reduce or eliminate permit requirements by spanning wetlands or critical habitat areas.
Reduce or eliminate erosion control requirements by placing the abutments outside the active stream bed or flood zone.
Superstructure is erected from one end without ground or water contact. No oversized equipment is required.
Exposed strands can be galvanized or coated with epoxy. Structural steel components can be treated with galvanizing or other owner specified systems.
All components can be delivered in standard highway vehicles or via air to remote sites.
